Privacy Policy
This policy covers redwhitepodcast.com, the Red & White Podcast newsletter and membership, the #PodChat community, and the Red & White Recap Bot ("the bot"), operated by Evan Roberts ("we", "us"). Questions: evan@redwhitenetwork.com.
What we collect
- Newsletter signups: your email address and, if you give it, your first name. Stored with our email provider, Kit.
- Memberships: payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your name, email, and subscription status, never your full card number.
- #PodChat game threads: messages posted in the game channels of the podcast's members-only chat are archived so we can write community game recaps. We store the message text, time, and the poster's chat user ID and display name.
- Recap credit preferences: if the bot asks whether you want credit for a quoted comment, we store your answer so you aren't asked again.
- Website visits: our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as IP address and browser type to serve and protect the site. We don't run advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter, episode announcements, and game recaps you signed up for.
- To run memberships and give members access to members-only content.
- To write public game recaps. Quotes are published anonymously ("Fan A") unless you choose to be credited by name. Usernames are never published without that choice.
- To keep the site and services working and secure.
We use Anthropic's Claude to help write recaps and show notes, and Cloudflare Workers AI to transcribe episode audio. Text sent to these services is used only to produce that content.
YouTube and Google data
The bot connects to the Red & White Podcast's own YouTube channel through the YouTube API Services to retitle our live-stream recordings, set their descriptions and thumbnails, and add them to our podcast playlist. It reads the channel's video list and live-stream details for that purpose only. It does not access any viewer's data, and it does not share or sell any Google user data. Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
By using these YouTube features you are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Channel access can be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions; the stored access token is deleted when access is revoked or on request.
Sharing
We don't sell personal information. We share it only with the services that run the podcast (Kit for email, Stripe for payments, Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Anthropic for writing assistance, Postiz for scheduling social posts) and when the law requires it.
Retention
Newsletter and membership records are kept while you're subscribed. Archived game-thread messages are kept to maintain the recap archive. You can ask us to delete your messages, credit preference, or email record at any time.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from email with the link in any message.
- Manage or cancel a membership through the Stripe customer portal linked on the membership page.
- Change your recap credit choice, or ask for deletion, by emailing evan@redwhitenetwork.com.
Children
The site and services aren't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. Material changes will be announced in the newsletter.
